About the race
Katie's Run 5K Run/Walk is a community running event held in New Hyde Park in late June. The event includes timed and untimed options and a free children's fun run in the park.

The event is presented by the Katie McBride Foundation to honor the memory of Katie and to raise funds and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro and related family support services.
Amenities listed for online registrants include a premium t-shirt and chip timing for the 5K. Personalized bibs are available for those who register by the stated cutoff date; registrants who pick up bibs early are entered into a raffle for event prizes. A post-race barbecue celebration with live entertainment takes place in Memorial Park; a barbecue-only option is offered for a separate fee and raffle tickets are available for purchase.
Awards are given for overall top finishers and masters, with age-group awards across standard age ranges and special recognition for local students and residents. Packet pickup is offered at the rear entrance of the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, with an early pickup option and a race-day pickup at the same location.
