About the race
Katie's Run is presented by the Katie McBride Foundation and combines a community footrace with fundraising and family activities in New Hyde Park. The event features multiple distance options:
- 5K race
- 2 mile Fun Run/Walk
- Children's Fun Run free after the main event
The 5K course is USATF certified. Amenities listed for online registrants include a premium t-shirt, chip timing for 5K participants, and personalized bibs for those who register by June 7. A post-race BBQ celebration with live entertainment is held in Memorial Park; a BBQ-only option is offered for attendees who do not run or walk. Raffle tickets are available for purchase.
Awards are given for overall top three men and women in the 5K, masters (40+) top three men and women, and age-group top three men and women across standard age brackets. Additional recognitions include top students from local high schools and top local resident categories, with eligibility clarified for age group awards.
Registration for the upcoming edition is not yet open; a notification option is offered for people who wish to know when registration opens. Packet pickup is available the day before at the rear entrance of New Hyde Park Funeral Home and also on the event day at the same location. The event benefits the Katie McBride Foundation and supports Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro and related family support services.
