The Inaugural Kanuga Triathlon
The Kanuga Triathlon is a new sprint-distance sporting event held at the Kanuga Conference Center in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The event is scheduled for August 2026 and provides a multi-discipline course through scenic Western North Carolina.
The triathlon consists of three distinct segments:
- Swim: A time-trial start taking place in Kanuga Lake.
- Bike: A course featuring mixed surfaces. Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes are permitted in a specific category, while throttle-equipped bikes are prohibited.
- 5K Run: A fast-paced run to conclude the event.
Registered participants receive a finisher medal, complimentary race photos, and a goody bag. Those who register before the July 12th deadline are also provided with a dri-fit technical shirt. An award ceremony is held following the completion of the race, with a course cutoff set for later in the morning.
Athletes may also participate in the Kanuga Trail & Tri Weekend Challenge. This involves completing the Twilight Trail 5K on Saturday and the triathlon on Sunday. Weekend Challenge participants receive medals for both events and a performance towel. On-site lodging options including a lodge and camping are available at the venue. A virtual participation option is also offered for those unable to attend in person. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
