Jurassic Extinction / Jurassic Coast 100
Jurassic Extinction / Jurassic Coast 100 is a multi-distance coastal ultra event held on 20–21 June 2026 along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The full-route follows the South West Coast Path and covers the World Heritage stretch from Old Harry Rocks near Studland to Orcombe Point at Exmouth.
The race options follow self-navigation on the South West Coast Path with live GPS tracking and downloadable GPX routes for each distance. Checkpoints and a professional Climb South West safety team provide first aid cover and mobile units operate on the course. Runners should take care on unfenced cliff edges, follow temporary diversion signs, and expect livestock in some fields.
Distances and basic details:
- 105 miles Poole (South Haven Point) to Exmouth, 5100 m ascent
- 100 km Weymouth (Nothe Fort) to Exmouth, 2900 m ascent
- 70 km Poole (South Haven Point) to Nothe Fort (Weymouth), 2200 m ascent
- 50 km Lyme Regis to Exmouth, 1730 m ascent
- 33 km Beer to Exmouth, 1050 m ascent
Some sections have established diversions; notable examples include Renscombe CP being about 400 m off the coast path and a permanent reroute near West Bay across the golf course. Support crews may meet participants between checkpoints and there is pre-event transport to start locations that must be arranged in advance through the event entry system.
