Josh Sprinkle & Cheryl Phillips Memorial Run
The event is an annual memorial run held at Fort Walton Beach High School in Fort Walton Beach, FL. It is presented as the 22nd annual edition and includes a community morning with refreshments, prizes, awards, and a post race picnic.
Distances offered include:
- 5K running
- 5K walking
- 5K no shirt option
- Kids fun runs: 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, 1 mile
Packet pickup and preregistration occur on the two days before the event at a local running store, with race day packet pickup at the high school multipurpose building. T shirts are guaranteed only to the first 200 preregistered entrants. Early registration rates apply and higher fees are listed for later and race day registration; a reduced fee applies for the no shirt option and a lower entry fee applies for the kids race. Member and student preregistration discounts are noted.
The event includes dozens of door prizes where presence is required to claim some prizes, and separate prize drawings that do not require presence. Awards are given to overall male and female finishers, masters and grandmasters, and age group awards for runners and walkers. Scholarship opportunities are available for rising high school seniors who plan to compete in college athletics; an application process is provided.
