Event Overview
The Reindeer Dash is a holiday-themed running event offering a 5K and a 1 Mile Fun Run. It takes place in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on a Saturday in mid-December. The event supports the Fort Walton Beach Fire Department's Toy Drive.
Course and Details
The course for the 5K is described as fast and flat, taking place in the Beachview area of Fort Walton Beach. For the 5K, there are separate divisions for runners and walkers. Participants in both the 5K and the 1 Mile Fun Run receive a long-sleeve performance cotton t-shirt. The first 500 registered participants are guaranteed a finisher's medal that converts into a Christmas ornament.
Awards and Afterparty
Awards for 5K runners include overall male and female, master and grandmaster, and three places deep in five-year age groups. Awards for 5K walkers are for the top three overall male and female finishers. The awards are described as Collector's Edition Christmas Ornaments, with a different design each year.
An afterparty is held at AJ's On The Bayou, located near the finish line. It includes food, beer, soft drinks, and live music.
Registration Notes
Registration is limited to 500 participants for the guaranteed medal. Once that limit is reached, a "No medal" registration opens. The event is held rain or shine, and refunds are not offered. Participants must choose their division carefully; those registered for the 5K Walk division must not run, even with a stroller. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
