Event Overview

The Johns Hopkins Below the Belt: Stride and Thrive event commemorates its 10th anniversary on June 7, 2026. This milestone gathering takes place at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore on National Cancer Survivors Day. The event serves to support gynecologic cancer research, education, and clinical care at the Johns Hopkins Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service.

Participants are encouraged to wear purple as the community comes together to recognize cancer survivors, families, and healthcare professionals. The course offers a unique environment where participants move past animal exhibits, including zebras and giraffes.

Participation Details

The physical races are held at the Maryland Zoo, located at 1 Safari Place. Children under the age of two are permitted to attend for free and do not require formal registration for the race. For those unable to attend in person, virtual registration options are available. Virtual participants may use a dedicated mobile application to record their 5K times. Registration fees vary depending on the chosen distance and whether the participant selects a virtual option with or without an event t-shirt.
