Johns Hopkins Below the Belt Stride and Thrive 5K
The event takes place on June 7, 2026 at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and marks the 10th anniversary of the Johns Hopkins Below the Belt Stride and Thrive 5K. The date coincides with National Cancer Survivors Day and the event uses purple as a theme. Special anniversary activities are planned, and parts of the route pass zoo exhibits such as zebras and giraffes.
Distances offered:
- 5K Run: 3.11 miles
- 1 Mile Run/Walk: 1 mile
- Virtual Run/Walk with T-shirt: 3.1 miles
- Free Virtual Run/Walk (No T-shirt): 3.1 miles
Over the past decade the event has raised more than $1.3 million to support gynecologic cancer research, education, and clinical care at the Johns Hopkins Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service.
Registration details vary by event. Registration for the in-person events and the paid virtual option opens October 6, 2025 and closes December 31, 2025. The free virtual option remains open through June 7, 2026. Fees listed in the event information include $35 for the in-person races, $25 for the virtual option with a T-shirt, and no fee for the free virtual option. Children under age two are free and do not need to register. Virtual participants have optional access to an app to record their 5K time.
