Johns Hopkins Below the Belt Stride and Thrive 5K
The Johns Hopkins Below the Belt Stride and Thrive event takes place on June 13, 2027, at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. This is the 11th annual edition and it raises funds for gynecologic cancer research, education, and clinical care at the Johns Hopkins Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service. Over the last decade the event has helped raise more than $2.5 million for those programs, and the organizer notes that specialized care at the service doubles survival rates.
The event offers in-person and virtual participation options and includes onsite activities at the zoo. Race and participation options include:
- 3.11 Miles - 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile - 1 Mile Walk
- 3.1 Miles - Virtual Run/Walk with T-shirt
- 3.1 Miles - Free Virtual Run/Walk no T-shirt
Registration details vary by option. In-person events have a registration fee of $35.00. The virtual option with a T-shirt has a $25.00 fee; a free virtual option is available without a T-shirt. Children under age two are free and do not need to register. Virtual participants have optional access to an app to record their 5K time. Some registration windows open in October 2026 and several registration periods close December 13, 2026; the free virtual option remains open through the event day.
