Joe LaRocco 5K and 1K Elementary School Run
The Joe LaRocco 5K and Elementary School 1K Fun Run take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Salem, VA at Green Hill Park (2501 Green Hill Park Rd, 24153). The events are part of the Knights Crossing Cross Country Invitational hosted by Cave Spring High School. Distances offered:

- 1 km (elementary-age participants, 1st-5th grade)
Course, entries and race-day information
The courses are described as flat and run entirely on grass and gravel. The 5K is open to coaches, parents, alumni and the general public; students competing with their schools should enter their school divisions later in the meet. Team scoring uses cross country rules and teams require five or more runners to be scored for team awards. Awards include Top 3 Male/Female overall, Top Male/Female Masters (40+), and a fastest-coach award. Paid registrants receive a Joe LaRocco 5K T-shirt while supplies last. Elementary participants receive a Knights Crossing T-shirt at packet pick-up and a finishers medal. Basic concessions will be available near the start area. Emergency medical coverage is provided by the Cave Spring High School athletic trainer and the Cave Spring Rescue Squad. A course map and a video tour of the current course are available.
