Joe LaRocco 5K and Elementary School 1K
The Joe LaRocco 5K and the Elementary School 1K are open races held as part of the Knights Crossing Cross Country Invitational at Green Hill Park in Salem, Virginia. The courses are described as flat and composed entirely of grass and gravel.
Distances:
- 5K open race for coaches, parents, alumni and the general public.
- 1K elementary race for students in grades 1 through 5.
Registration for the 5K opens 9/14/2025 and closes 9/5/2026 with a fee of $15.00. Registration for the 1K opens 9/14/2025 and closes 9/5/2026 with a fee of $7.00. Paid registrants for the 5K will receive a Joe LaRocco 5K T-shirt while supplies last. Elementary 1K participants receive a Knights Crossing T-shirt at packet pick-up and a medal at the finish.
Team scoring uses cross country rules; teams require five or more runners to be scored and to be considered for team awards. Individual awards for the 5K include top three male and female overall and top male and female masters 40 plus, with an additional fastest coach category. Basic concessions will be available on site. Medical support is provided by the host high school athletic trainer and the local rescue squad.
