Frozen Toe 10k
The Frozen Toe 10k is a January trail race held at New Hope Christian Church with the Chestnut Ridge Loop as the primary trail. The event includes an in person race and a virtual 10k option that counts as one of the RNUTS qualifying races. Registration opens by 11/1/26 and tiered fees apply through early January. A hoodie purchase option is available through 12/8/26.

Course and location details note that the Chestnut Ridge Loop Trail is a 5.6 mile single track loop around Roanoke Mountain Campground. The trail is described as fast and flowy and suitable for a winter trail event. The in person course starts at New Hope Christian Church, follows Welcome Valley Road to a turnaround, enters the Chestnut Loop Trail, returns to Welcome Valley Road, and finishes back at the church. There is a water and Gatorade stop at mile 3.4.
Packet pickup is scheduled at Gilbert Chiropractic in Salem, at Fleet Feet Sports in Roanoke, and at New Hope Christian Church on race day. The event headquarters is New Hope Christian Church, with parking near the start and finish. A snow date is set for 1/16/27 at Moneta Park if the National Park Service permit is canceled.
Key rules include no dogs, visible bibs worn on the front, no course short cutting, one midcourse aid station, and no amplified music on course.
