Frozen Toe 10K
The Frozen Toe 10K is a trail running event held on January 9, 2027, with a snow date of January 16, 2027. The race uses the Chestnut Ridge Loop Trail and is organized from New Hope Christian Church, which also serves as event parking and headquarters.
The course follows local roads to the Chestnut Ridge Loop and returns to the church. The Chestnut Ridge Loop Trail is a 5.6 mile single track trail around Roanoke Mountain Campground, described as fast and flowy and suitable for winter trail conditions. There is one on-course water/Gatorade stop at mile 3.4. A trail map is provided by the organizer.
Registration opens by November 1, 2026. Fee tiers apply by date, and a virtual 10k option is available for a separate fee; virtual participants receive a custom race item and the virtual race counts as an RNUTS qualifying event. A limited merchandise option is offered for a fee until December 8, 2026.
Packet pickup is scheduled at local partner locations in the days before the event and at New Hope Christian Church on race day. Awards include unique prizes for the top three male and female finishers and the first male and female 40 plus, plus medals for the top three in 13 age groups. Event rules note that dogs are not permitted, bibs must be worn on the front, the marked trail must be followed, and amplified music is not allowed on course.
