Event overview

The Jersey City Marathon & Half Marathon is the 4th annual full and half marathon organized by the Jersey City Road Runners in partnership with the City of Jersey City. It takes place in Jersey City, New Jersey, on April 19, 2026, with course activity centered at Newport. The race is USATF-sanctioned and USATF-certified and will serve as a qualifying event for the 2027 Boston Marathon. Organizers note participation figures of more than 10,000 runners representing over 50 countries. The route passes through multiple Jersey City neighborhoods.

Registration, transfers and race rules

Expo entry is included with registration and bib pickup at the expo is allowed. Transfers to another runner are permitted through April 15, 2026; the transferee will receive the shirt size and gender selected at original registration. Deferral to the 2027 event is available for a $25 fee until March 15, 2026. Switching from the full marathon to the half marathon is allowed if the half is not sold out; a $25 administration fee applies and the registrant is responsible for any price difference. Shirt and medal assignments depend on the shirt-ordering cutoff: switching before that cutoff results in the new race shirt and medal, while switching after it may result in the original shirt and the new race medal. No general refunds; race insurance may reimburse registration fees per the insurer terms. Picking up a bib for another athlete requires that athlete’s confirmation email.
