The event is a 5K road race held at Janney Furnace Park in Ohatchee, AL. The course is USATF certified and described as a rolling route that passes the historic Janney Furnace and continues through downtown Ohatchee. Proceeds benefit Friends of Janney Furnace and the Anniston Lions Local Sight Program.
Entry fees are listed at $25 with a higher race day fee of $30; earlier registration rates may reduce the cost by up to $10. Pre-registration by October 1 guarantees a long sleeve technical shirt; after that date shirts are available while supplies last. Race results will be chip timed using reusable shoe chips.
Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and to the top three in each age category, with age groups ranging from 14 and under through 70 and over. The event includes food, door prizes, and family-oriented activities. Janney Furnace Park is part of the Calhoun County park system and the historic furnace was built in 1863 and 1864 to produce pig iron; the park is open to the public daily during park hours.
