Janney Furnace 5K - Ohatchee, AL
The Janney Furnace 5K is a distance running event held at Janney Furnace Park in Ohatchee, Alabama. The course is USATF certified and described as a rolling route that passes the historic Janney Furnace and runs through downtown Ohatchee.
Proceeds from the event benefit Friends of Janney Furnace and the Anniston Lions Local Sight Program. The event is associated with the Anniston Lions Club and includes food, door prizes, awards, and family-oriented activities at the park.
Entry fees are listed as $25 with a higher race day fee of $30. Pre-registration by October 1 is noted as the deadline to guarantee a long sleeve technical shirt; after that date shirts are available while supplies last. Race day registration is available at the Janney Furnace Museum.
Results will be chip timed using reusable shoe chips. Awards are planned for the top three male and female overall finishers, and for the top three finishers in each age category. Age groups listed include 14 and under, 15 to 19, then five-year bands through 70 and over.
