The Plucked Turkey 10k takes place on Thursday, November 26, 2026, in Anniston, AL. The race is hosted by the Anniston Runners Club and the YMCA and benefits the YMCA. The course is USATF certified and measures 6.2 miles (10k).
Location and course
The event is based at Norwood Hodges Community Center, 3125 Spring Valley Rd, Anniston, AL 36207. The course runs through the Golden Springs community. Chip timing is used and a timing chip is attached to the back of the race bib.
Registration, fees and shirt
The listed price for the 10k is $35. The unisex long sleeve t-shirt for 2026 is guaranteed for registrations completed by October 31, 2026; remaining shirts are allocated as registrations continue. Shirts are available for pick up on race day only and may be collected by another registered runner if needed.
Rules, awards and other details
Walkers are welcome and there is no age minimum; minors must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Earbuds are strongly discouraged. Roads are closed for the event but participants must remain aware of their surroundings. Bicycles, in-line skates, pets and other non-official wheeled vehicles are prohibited on the course; strollers with infants are allowed from the back of the field. Overall male and female winners receive a turkey breast; second and third overall receive pies. Age-group awards are given for standard age brackets. Course records are 33:56 (male, 2025) and 38:32 (female, 2012); a $50 prize is available for breaking a record. A local food drive will collect non-perishable donations for area food banks.
