About the race
The Plucked Turkey 10K is an Anniston Runners Club road race held at the Norwood Hodges Community Center in Anniston, Alabama (3125 Spring Valley Rd). The event is run on a certified 6.2 mile course laid out as a rolling loop through the Golden Springs community, with the start and finish in front of the community center.
Chip timing is used so results can be applied for events that require corral timing. Water is provided at miles 2 and 4 and at the finish line. Walkers are welcome and the event is presented as suitable for family participation. The race benefits the YMCA.
Awards are handed out as runners cross the finish line. Overall male and female winners receive a turkey breast from Honey Baked Ham Company. Overall second and third place male and female finishers receive a choice of pies. Age groups for awards are 9 and under; 10 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; 70 to 79; and 80 and over.
Registration opens with an opening price of $35 and the price increases after October 31. Those registered by October 31 are guaranteed a long sleeve t shirt. Early packet pick up is scheduled for Wednesday, November 25 at the ARC/NEABA headquarters, and check in is also available on race morning inside the community center.
