Jane Tomlinson Canal Race Series
The Jane Tomlinson Canal Race Series is an event consisting of three different races, held on a flat trail course along the Aire and Calder Navigation canal towpath in Methley, Leeds. This specific event marks the second race in the series and has a total participation limit of 500 runners. The event is organized by the Rothwell Harriers running club and has been established for nearly 20 years.
The course is a single loop measuring 5 km and is classified as a flat trail run. It is a professionally measured course and is marshaled by members of the Rothwell Harriers. While the route is flat, it is not suitable for wheelchairs. Participants should note that there are no water stations or distance markers along the route.
The race headquarters is located at a local pub in Methley, which provides toilet and changing facilities for participants. The starting line is situated approximately a five-minute walk from the headquarters. Baggage storage is available on-site, though there are no shower facilities. Parking is available within the village, with instructions to avoid blocking residential driveways.
Proceeds from the race series are donated to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. Prizes are awarded for all age categories for both individual races and the overall series. While medals are provided to all participants during the final race of the series in July, they are not distributed at this specific second stage. The final event in July also includes a 1.5 mile fun run and a school competition.
