Event overview
The Jane Tomlinson Canal Race Series Race 2 takes place on 2 June 2026 in Methley, Leeds. It is one of three 5 km races held on a flat canal towpath along the Aire and Calder Navigation. The course is measured and marshaled by Rothwell Harriers AC. Proceeds from the series go to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. Prizes are awarded for all age categories for each individual race and for the overall series. The final race in July includes a 1.5 mile fun run with a school competition and medals for all participants in that final race.
Course and practical information
Distance: 5 km. Course type: trail, flat, one lap. Entry limit: 500 places (500 remaining). Race licence: applied for. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs. Race headquarters is the Commercial Pub, 12 Main Street, Methley, LS26 9JE; the start is a short walk from there. Facilities at the event include toilets, changing facilities and a baggage store. There are no water stations, no distance markers and no showers. Entry opens at 10:00 on 1 December 2025. Entry fees for Race 2 only are £15.00 (affiliated) and £17.00 (unaffiliated); entry on the day is not available.
