Jane Tomlinson Canal Race Series RACE 2
This event is the second race in a three-race series of 5 kilometre runs held along a flat canal towpath on the Aire and Calder Navigation near Methley, Leeds. The series is organised by Rothwell Harriers AC and is licensed by the TRA (licence TRA 8328) and run under UKA rules.
The entry for this race is limited to 500 places. Entry fees for this race are listed as £15.00 for affiliated runners and £17.00 for unaffiliated runners. Entry on the day is not available. Minimum age to participate is 12 years.
Course and race details:
- 5 kilometres on a measured, flat towpath course
- Trail surface, one lap
- Not suitable for wheelchairs
- Course is marshaled by Rothwell Harriers
Facilities at the Race HQ (Commercial Pub, Main Street, Methley) include toilets, changing facilities and baggage storage. There is no water provision, no distance markers and no showers at the event. Race HQ is a short walk from the start and parking is available around the village; participants are asked not to block driveways.
The series has prizes for all age categories for each individual race and for the overall series. The series raises money for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. The final race in July will include a 1.5 mile fun run with a school competition and will award medals to all participants in that final race.
