Jackson Turkey Trot
The Jackson Turkey Trot is an annual community event held on Thanksgiving Day at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson, Michigan. The venue features over 500 acres of natural landscape and tree-lined roads. This event, which has been organized for over 22 years, utilizes professional chip timing provided by the Michigan Running Foundation.
Participants can choose from a range of distances and categories:
- 10K Run (6.2 miles)
- 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- 5K Walk (3.1 miles)
- Elite 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- Elite 5K Walk (3.1 miles)
- Kid's Fun Run (0.5 miles)
- Virtual 5K Run (3.1 miles)
The Elite categories are reserved for individuals who can complete the course in 30 minutes or less, with participation limits set at 100 for the run and 20 for the walk. The 5K Walk categories require participants to walk the entire distance; those intending to run at any point must register for the run. The Kid's Fun Run is open to children aged 8 years and under. A virtual option allows participants to record their activity at a location of their choice between November 13 and November 26.
Overall awards are presented to the top male and female finishers in Open, Master (40+), and Senior Master (60+) divisions for the 10K, 5K Run, and 5K Walk. Age group awards are also provided for the top three finishers in various brackets. Registration includes options for technical style t-shirts, subject to deadlines and availability. Animals are not permitted at the event, with the exception of service dogs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
