- 12 kilometer
The base out-and-back loop covers roughly 33 miles, starting and finishing at Baron Ranch and passing West Camino Cielo, the ridge toward Gaviota Peak, and Gaviota Hot Springs Trailhead. The 25 kilometer route gains roughly 3,300 feet over about 16 miles. The longer courses report substantial elevation gain: the 50 km over 8,000 feet, the 100 km over 16,000 feet, and the 100 mile up to 25,000 feet.
The course will be marked with colored ribbon and signs, and participants must use GPX digital mapping supplied by the event. Aid stations on the out-and-back appear at Start/Finish (Baron Ranch), Mile 3 (Hacienda Oasis), Mile 8.3 (Ray Ford), Mile 13 (Gaviota Peak, Terry's Tavern), and Mile 16.4 (Gaviota Hot Springs). Runners must check in at aid stations with their bib number visible and acknowledge the aid station captain to confirm they are within cutoffs.
There are no refunds or rollovers. Awards vary by distance and include finisher buckles, challenge coins, handcrafted awards, and cash prizes for top finishers in the 100 mile event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
