Island Running Festival
The Island Running Festival takes place on Alameda Point, featuring a course that starts and finishes at Faction Brewery. The event offers participants views of the San Francisco skyline, various Alameda parks, and the USS Hornet. A Health and Wellness expo is held inside a historic hangar alongside the race activities.
Available distances include:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) featuring a fast route with access to the old taxiway.
- 10K Run (6.2 miles) using a single loop course including Bohol Circle Park.
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) circling parts of Alameda Point and recently opened trails.
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run open to children and groups.
The event is chip-timed, and participants are permitted to run, jog, or walk the courses. Jogging strollers are allowed but must start at the back of the pack. Wheelchair athletes may participate under specific safety speed restrictions. For safety reasons, bikes, scooters, skateboards, and dogs are not permitted on the course.
All participants receive a t-shirt, a finisher medal, and post-event refreshments including food and beer. Water stations are positioned at various intervals for each distance, and a medical station with a dedicated paramedic team is located near the finish line. A portion of registration proceeds is donated to the Alameda Education Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
