Island Running Festival
The Island Running Festival takes place on September 20, 2026 on Alameda Point with start and finish near City Hall West and an on-site Health and Wellness expo presented by Alameda Health Systems. The event includes multiple chip timed races that follow single-loop and out-and-back courses along shoreline roads and recently opened trails around Alameda Point.
Available race distances
- Island Half Marathon 13.1 Miles
- Island 10K Run 6.2 Miles
- Island 5K Run / Walk 3.1 Miles
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run 1 Mile
All participants receive a t-shirt, a finisher medal, and post-event food and beer. Packet pickup is offered on race weekend at a local store on Park Street and at the Race Start/Finish Expo on West Mall Drive. A portion of registration proceeds is donated to the Alameda Education Foundation.
The festival allows running, jogging, or walking and is chip timed. Jogging strollers are permitted and asked to start toward the back. Wheelchair athletes are permitted but must not travel faster than the fastest runner due to safety and street closure limits. Bicycles, scooters, skateboards and dogs are not allowed on the race courses.
Medical support includes a paramedics team, a medical station near the finish, and roaming medical personnel. Water stops are positioned along each course; the half marathon, 10K and 5K have multiple aid stations listed on course maps. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
