In the Woods 30A 50K : Santa Rosa Beach, FL
The event is a trail ultramarathon held at the Point Washington State Forest Eastern Lake trailhead in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Race options listed are a 50K Solo and a 3 person relay. The 50K course is three laps: Lap 1 = 10.50 miles, Lap 2 = 10.17 miles, Lap 3 = 10.40 miles, for a total of 31.07 miles.
The trail passes through pine forest and includes mostly dirt and sand trails, sections of sand only, stretches of gravel road, creek crossings on wood bridges, and natural obstacles such as tree roots, rocks, fallen trees, standing water, and mud. There is a 9.5 hour time limit for finishers.
Awards are given to the 1st through 3rd overall finishers in the men’s and women’s solo races and to the 1st through 3rd teams in the 3 person relay. First place solo finishers in each age group receive awards; age groups are 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. All finishers receive a finisher’s medal. Solo runners who complete the 50K in under 4 hours receive the In the Woods 30A 50K U4 Club award.
For safety, animals are not permitted to participate. Participants are asked to wear bright colored clothing due to hunting season in the state forest. Strollers and wagons must start at the back of the field. Runners using certified racing wheelchairs or adaptive devices should contact race staff in advance for accommodations.
Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, February 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Fleet Feet Inlet Beach. Registrations made prior to February 1 guarantee the long sleeve tech shirt. Registration closes February 19 at 11:59 p.m. CT. Registration fees are non refundable; transfers to another runner are allowed within the designated transfer period.
