In It For The Long Run
In It For The Long Run is a multi distance running event held at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama. It takes place over two days in May 2026 and includes both timed ultramarathon formats and fixed distance races.
The event offers the following distances and formats:
- Marathon
- 50K
- 50 mile
- 6 hour
- 12 hour
- 24 hour
- 5K night
- 10K night
- Half Marathon night
The course is a loop with a rubberized surface of about 1.7 miles per lap, intended to be easier on the legs for long efforts. The final loop distance for finishers will be announced prior to the start.
A fully stocked aid station will be available, including fresh fruit, energy gels, hydration including Coke products, sandwiches, and candy. Food trucks will be on site and hot food such as grilled cheese and pancakes will be served at various times.
Packet pick up is scheduled at Fleet Feet Huntsville on Friday and there will be no race day packet pick up. Overnight camping will be allowed on Saturday night. The event is free with participation capped at 250 runners. Team entries of up to six members are permitted for the 12 hour and 24 hour events. The event will be chip timed and sponsored by Karhu. Awards and recognition will be given to all finishers and to top performers and teams; there are no age group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
