Ideal Beach Triathlon : Elkhart, IN (June 27, 2026)
The Ideal Beach Triathlon takes place at Ideal Beach Waterpark in Elkhart, Indiana. The event includes multiple race formats held on the same day and offers separate youth and adult programs.
The Sprint Individual course includes a 400 yard swim that uses two right turns at large orange buoys and a sandy lake entry and exit, a flat 12 mile bike loop that follows the Indiana-Michigan state line, and a 3.1 mile run along Heaton Lake that crosses a toll-road overpass and passes through an industrial park with a turnaround.
The Sprint Team Relay uses the same swim, bike, and run distances with each team member completing one leg.
Kids races are split into competitive and non competitive divisions. Eligibility requires the ability to swim 25 yards unassisted and to ride a bike without training wheels. Kids events use a short bike segment escorted by monitors, lifeguards in the water, volunteers at corners, and additional monitors on the run. Competitive entries are timed, require a timing chip and body marking, and have age group awards for 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, and 12-14. The non competitive event focuses on participation and concludes at the same finish line as the adult races. A recognition award is available for athletes nominated for overcoming challenges.
