I Double Ogg Dare You!
This event is a timed 3 hour and 6 hour loop race held at 7460 Ogg Rd in Shawnee, KS. The course uses Ogg Road, a half mile paved road with roughly 200 feet of climb; each full lap measures about 1.1 mile and includes approximately 200 feet of elevation gain. Runners complete as many full laps as they can within their chosen time period; only full laps crossed on the timing mat count.
The race is chip timed with shoe-worn chips and a timing mat at the start/finish area. The field is limited to 175 entrants. A staffed aid station at the start/finish provides water, electrolyte drink mix, soda options, sandwiches, cookies, chips and other snacks; vegan and gluten free options are available. Pizza will be available for six hour runners and volunteers. First aid supplies, vaseline, bug spray, sunscreen and wipes are on site, but common over-the-counter pain medications will not be supplied; runners are responsible for their own NSAIDs.
Rules include no poles except for medical exceptions, no pacers, and no unregistered people beyond the course marker at the top of Ogg Road. Personal music is allowed with headphones at a volume that permits awareness of others. Dogs are not allowed on the course and must be leashed at the start/finish. The event proceeds in rain or snow but may be delayed, paused or canceled for lightning, ice or severe storms. Official distances are based on wheel measured course markings, not personal GPS.
