Event Overview
The Garmin Olathe Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K in the land of Oz takes place in Olathe, Kansas. Established in 2003, this event reaches its 23rd anniversary in 2026. The races are hosted at the Garmin world headquarters, located approximately 20 minutes southwest of downtown Kansas City in Johnson County.
Participants run through the streets and trails of Olathe. The event offers several different distances to accommodate various preferences:

- Half Marathon
- 10K
- Munchkin Run
Logistics and Safety
Aid stations are positioned along the course at intervals of approximately 1.5 to 2.5 miles. These stations provide water and Gatorade, while select stations also offer GU gels. Portable toilets are located near each aid station. A gear check service is available near the starting line for participants to secure personal items during the race.
The course is reserved for registered participants only. For safety reasons, bicycles, skateboards, strollers, joggers, rollerblades, wheelchairs, and dogs are not permitted. Law enforcement officers and volunteers manage traffic throughout the event.
Registration and Awards
A two-day expo and packet pickup is held at the Ball Event Center prior to the race, while race day packet pickup is available at the Garmin world headquarters. There is no registration on the day of the race. Trophies are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the first-place masters finishers for the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K. Age-group awards are also provided for the top three finishers in categories ranging from 18 and under to 85 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
