About the race
The event is a Halloween-themed mini HYROX-style race held at Conroy Field in Ottawa. It combines running laps with functional fitness stations and raises funds for two charity partners: the HYROX Global Health Fund and The Royal. Costumes are optional and encouraged. The event is open to participants aged 15 and over and offers free parking.
The format pairs five running laps with five fitness stations. Stations use pumpkins instead of traditional weights and include both shared and individual tasks. Distances and station work include:
- 5 x 500 m running laps
- 100 m Pumpkin Lunges
- 50 Pumpkin Sit Ups
- 50 Pumpkin Squat Press
- Tombstone Toss
- 100 m Burpee Broad Jump
Two entry types define how the work is completed: solo participants complete all runs and stations alone; doubles participants run side by side and split most station work. Prizes are planned for top finishers and for most creative costumes in both solo and team categories.
Ticket pricing is stated: Singles $25, Doubles $50, optional T-shirt $10; ticket sales include a BBQ lunch with burger or hot dog and a beverage. The first $700 of proceeds goes to the HYROX Global Health Fund; subsequent funds are donated to The Royal. Refunds are available up to seven days before the event.
