About the race
Hurtin’ Hamster is a Modified Backyard Brawl trail event held May 16, 2027 at French Creek State Park - Pool Area, 843 Park Rd, Elverson, PA. The event format is ten back-to-back 5k rustic trail races run on the same loop, with one race starting every hour. Runners have one hour to complete each lap; failure to finish a lap before the next lap starts results in elimination from further laps.
Entrants may compete solo or as a two-person relay. In two-person relays one runner completes all odd-numbered laps and the other runner completes all even-numbered laps; no change in order or frequency is allowed except for injury. Only finishes on the 10th lap determine awards and final placings. Participants who complete all ten laps receive a medal indicating a 50k finish. Relay members are generally not eligible for the 50k finisher medal; additional medals may be mailed if numbers exceed the organizer’s estimate.
Age group awards are based solely on the 10th lap and include multiple male and female age brackets plus Clydesdale awards with specified weight minimums. Relay awards include first place in all-male, all-female, and coed divisions.
Registration is handled online and has printed shirt options in sizes S through 2X for preregistration. The event runs in all weather, offers on-site medical presence, food and drink for sale, indoor restrooms, parking and space for tents, and nearby park recreation amenities.
