About the race
The Huntley Historical Society Sew Hop'd Beer Mile is a fundraising event held at Sew Hop'd Brewery in Huntley, Illinois. The event features two entry types:
- Individual Beer Mile : 1 mile
- 4-Person Team Relay : 1 mile
The individual format requires consuming four 12 oz Sew Hop'd beers and running four quarter-mile laps in alternating sequence. The relay format uses four team members; each team member drinks one 12 oz beer, runs one quarter-mile lap, and tags the next member. Must drink beer provided by the event; nonalcoholic beer is available.
Heats are limited to no more than 16 participants and are organized at 30-minute intervals. The event is scheduled rain or shine; organizers may cancel for heavy rain and no refunds will be issued. The event benefits The Huntley Historical Society.
Registration opens March 28 and closes July 18. Fees are shown for each event; a later registration price increase is noted for after July 20. A 2026 combined-entry discount applies when signing up for both the full Beer Mile and the Relay in the same transaction; combined entries receive one swag bag and one shirt. Registration includes a T-shirt, custom bib, beer glass, finisher medal, chip timing, and photos.
All beer mile entrants are automatically entered in raffles for gift baskets from Rookies and Sew Hop'd. Participants must be at least 21 years old on the event date. The course is a quarter-mile loop on a paved parking lot. Awards are given for top finishers, age groups, relay teams, and DFL (Dead Freaking Last).
