The Huntley Historical Society - Sew Hop'd Beer Mile
The Huntley Historical Society - Sew Hop'd Beer Mile is a fundraising event held at the Sew Hop'd Brewery and Taproom in Huntley, Illinois. The event is designed to support the preservation and promotion of local history. Participants must be at least 21 years of age on the day of the event to participate.
The race takes place on a paved parking lot, where runners complete a specific circuit involving drinking and running. The course consists of a quarter-mile loop. For the individual event, participants must drink one 12-ounce beer provided by the event before each of the four laps. The sequence follows a drink-run pattern for a total of four iterations.
Registration options include:
- Beer Mile (Individual)
- Beer Mile 4-Person Team Relay
In the relay format, teams are composed of four members. Each team member is responsible for drinking one beer and running one lap. To manage the number of runners on the course, participants are divided into heats of no more than 16 people. Heats for both relay teams and individual runners are scheduled in 30-minute intervals.
The event features chip timing, and registration includes a T-shirt, a custom bib, a beer glass, and a finisher's medal. Additional activities on-site include food trucks, live music, and raffles. The event is held rain or shine, with packet pickup moved indoors in the event of inclement weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
