Event Overview
The Huntersville Sprint Triathlon is a pool swim triathlon held at the Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics (HFFA) center. The event features two distinct races: an individual and relay sprint triathlon for ages 13 and up, and a youth triathlon for ages 7-15. Proceeds benefit St. Jude Children's Cancer Research.
Distances
Sprint Triathlon (Individual & Relay)
- Swim: 400 yards in a 50m pool.
- Bike: 20K (one-loop, moderately hilly course).
- Run: 5K (out-and-back on roads).
Youth TRI
- Swim: 100 yards in a 50m pool.
- Bike: 2 miles (out-and-back two-loop course on Verhoeff Drive).
- Run: 1 mile (out-and-back on Verhoeff Drive).
Event Details
The swim for both events uses a time trial start, with athletes sent off individually. The HFFA facility includes a large 50m pool, a separate warm-up pool, and indoor bathrooms for participants and spectators. All athletes receive a swim cap and swag items at packet pickup, though a shirt is only guaranteed for the first 200 participants.
Registration closes on July 9, 2026, or when the event reaches maximum capacity. There is no race day registration. Participants must provide proof of USA Triathlon membership or purchase a one-day license. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
