Streetlight 5K and Frolic in Downtown Concord
The event takes place in Downtown Concord near the Cabarrus County Courthouse at 61 Union Street South. The certified 5K course follows Union Street South to Oakland Avenue, loops around R Brown Elementary School, returns on Union Street, and finishes in downtown.
There are two main running distances:
- 5K
- 1 mile Fun Run
The Frolic and Kid Zone accompanies the running events and includes inflatables, a balloon artist, LED seesaws, and a jumbo LED screen with karaoke. A local Social District involves downtown businesses offering alcoholic beverages for on-the-go enjoyment.
Registration details vary by event. The 5K has a registration fee of $20.00; the Fun Run is free. Registration opens February 1. Participants who register by June 19 are guaranteed a t-shirt. An optional race shirt is available this year with choices of a women’s racerback tank top or a men’s sleeveless shirt for participants who register before the shirt deadline. Race day registrations incur a $10 increase and are card only while supplies last.
A program called Speed for Need provides customized racing wheelchairs and a runner to assist riders with special needs to complete the 5K. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group, including new Masters and Grand Masters divisions. The 5K certification number is NC25013DF. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
