Wildcat Mountain Trail Races
The HRCA Wildcat Mountain Trail Races take place in the Backcountry Wilderness Area near Littleton, Colorado. The event uses the Douglas County East/West Trailhead at Rocky Heights Middle School as its starting point. Runners follow the East/West Trail into the Backcountry, eventually connecting with the trails surrounding Wildcat Mountain.
The course consists of 100% dirt trails and features rolling terrain with open mountain views. It is common for participants to observe local wildlife within the wilderness area. Due to the timing in October, trail conditions may include mud, snow, or ice. Aid stations are located along the route providing water. To support waste reduction, participants are encouraged to carry their own hydration systems.
Registration for adult participants includes a dry-fit t-shirt, a custom race bib, and a finisher medal. After the race, a pancake breakfast and beverages are provided. A secure bag check is available on-site for personal belongings. For safety reasons, dogs and strollers are not permitted on the course.
Available distances include:
- 10 Mile trail race
- 10K trail race
- Kid's Race for ages 0-12, with distances between 0.25 miles and 2 miles based on age
The children's events are untimed and designed as an introduction to trail running. Every child participant receives a custom bib and a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
