Event details

Hotter N' Hell Trail Run is a trail race held at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL, with the start area at the Cedar Pavilion at the south end of Double Oak Lake. The event offers the following distances:

  • 9 miles
  • 18 miles

The race is part of the Southeastern Trail Series and the field for the HNH race is limited to 300 runners. Registration opens on Mon. Dec 15, 2025 at 12:00 AM CT. The last day to register and be guaranteed a race shirt is July 7. Park entry is $5 per person.

Course and logistics

The course climbs to the top of Double Oak Mountain and descends into Peavine Gorge, with an additional aid station located near Peavine Falls. Organizers note heat as a factor on the course and advise use of electrolytes or similar products; an extra aid station is provided. All participants must enter the park through the south entrance near Interstate 65 and should park in the large lot at the end of Terrace Drive in front of the Dogwood Pavilion.

Packet pickup is available at Mountain High Outfitters (2000 Oak Mountain Park Rd, Pelham, AL 35124) and at the Cedar Pavilion on the race weekend.
