Hot Pursuit 5K & 1 Mile Catch-A-Cop - Pickens, SC
The fourth annual Hot Pursuit event is held at Doodle Park, 415 E Cedar Rock St., Pickens, SC 29671. The event uses chip timing and is run on a certified course that starts and finishes at Doodle Park. Distances offered:
- 5 km
- 1 mile (Catch-A-Cop for 5th grade and younger)

The 1 mile Catch-A-Cop course runs from Doodle Park to Bruce Field; children attempt to collect flags and then return to Doodle Park in a procession of police cars. Registration packages include race entry with timing, a race t-shirt, and a finishing medal. The cut-off date for a t-shirt is March 31; registrations after April 30 do not include a t-shirt. Race packet pick up is scheduled on Friday, April 11 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Pickens Doodle Park, with a morning pick up from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM at the same location.
All proceeds will go toward purchasing a wheelchair accessible swing to be placed in Easley, SC. Youth Leadership Academy, a charter middle school serving 288 students in grades 6-8, is organizing this service-focused effort. Awards are given 1st through 3rd overall for male and female under 40 and for ages 40+ (Masters), plus age-group awards in 10-year intervals.
