Event Overview
The Skechers Hot Chocolate Run takes place in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Participants can choose between three distances: 5K, 10K, and 15K.
Course and Location
The course starts and finishes at Golden Gate Park near the Music Concourse. The route passes notable sights within the park, including the San Francisco Botanical Garden, the Golden Gate Polo Fields, Murphy Windmill, and the Bison Paddock. It also runs along the Great Highway near Ocean Beach and through the JFK Promenade.
Participant Experience
All registered participants receive an event jacket and a finisher's medal. At the finish line, participants get a "finisher's mug" filled with chocolate fondue, items to dip, and hot chocolate. A post-race party is held at Golden Gate Park.
An optional VIP upgrade, the Ghirardelli Cocoa Club, provides access to a dedicated area, an upgraded food and drink selection, Ghirardelli hot cocoa, and a store credit.
Logistics
Packet pickup is held at the Sports Basement Presidio store on the Friday and Saturday before the event. Participants are strongly advised to use a provided shuttle service to reach the event, with a designated rideshare drop-off point also available. Metered parking is limited at the expo location, with several nearby parking lots suggested.
The event is professionally timed, and free high-resolution photos are provided. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers in each distance, as well as to the top three in various age groups for each distance.
