The Horseneck Half & 3.5M
The Horseneck event takes place at DCR Horseneck Beach State Reservation in Westport, MA on Sunday May 23, 2027. Two distances are offered:
- 13.1 miles Half Marathon
- 3.5 miles 3.5M
Both courses use a clockwise route from the beach. The half marathon follows John Reed Road, Rt. 88, Drift Road, Hixbridge Road, Horseneck Road, East Beach Road, and West Beach Road. The 3.5M route turns right immediately after leaving the parking lot and includes extended ocean frontage and three-sided water views from Gooseberry Island.
On-course support and race services include five water stops for the half at miles 2.5, 5.5, 8.3, 11.0, and 12.1, and one water stop for the 3.5M featuring Skratch Labs rehydration drink. EMS personnel will be located at each water stop and at the start/finish area. The course is open to vehicle traffic except for the start and finishing stretch; police will staff intersections and runners are asked to keep to the right.
All runners receive a technical race shirt, free coffee at the start and finish, and event access to a post-race gathering that includes one hot meal, one beer ticket or a non-alcoholic beer option, recovery drinks, and music. The half marathon awards finishers medals and age group prizes. Entry is limited to the first 1200 half marathon runners and the first 500 3.5M runners. Registration opens December 1, 2026 with tiered fees and legacy pricing for previous participants. There are no refunds or transfers, and management may modify, shorten, or cancel the race for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
