Horning Hawks Run
The Horning Hawks Run is a community event held at Horning Middle School and Banting Park in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The event honors the history and legacy of the school and is open to current and former students, staff, families, and residents. All proceeds from the event support the Horning Track and Field team and PBIS initiatives.
Participants can choose from three distinct event categories based on age and grade level:
- Half Mile: Open to students in grades 1-5 (ages 12 and under).
- Middle/High School 3k Run: Open to students in grades 6-12 (ages 11-18).
- Open 3k Hawk Walk/Run: Open to college-aged participants and adults (ages 18-99).
The 3k course consists of two laps and primarily utilizes sidewalks. A middle section of the route crosses the grass field in Banting Park, while the northern portion along Wolf Road follows the grass between the trees and the street. Course markings include flags, cones, and instructions from event helpers.
Event facilities are located within the Horning Cafeteria on Wolf Road, where participants collect race bibs and event shirts. The cafeteria also provides access to restrooms, snacks, and water. The start line is situated in front of the main school office, and the finish line is located in front of the cafeteria. All participants receive a finisher medal, with specific awards designated for the top three male and female finishers.
Spectator parking is not available in the school lots. Attendees must use city street parking in the residential areas surrounding the school and park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
