Event Overview

The Hopewell Valley Vineyards Wine Run 5k is a scenic running and walking event located in Pennington, New Jersey. The course takes participants through the landscape of a working winery that combines Old World traditions with New World flair. The event is chip-timed and scored by J3 Timing, with results published online.

Distances and Course

The event features a single distance:

  • 5 km (run or walk)

The route starts and finishes at the winery, providing a tour of the vineyard grounds. Due to the nature of the terrain, the course includes uneven ground. Strollers are permitted but not recommended for this reason. Dogs are allowed on the course if they remain on a leash, though they are restricted from entering the winery buildings.

Race Inclusions

Registered participants receive several items as part of their entry:

  • A soft ring-spun cotton t-shirt
  • A shatterproof, collapsible, and portable wine glass
  • A finisher medal that functions as a wine stopper
  • A chip-timed race bib
  • A pour of wine for participants aged 21 and over

Awards and Community

Top finishers are recognized with custom age group awards for the top three males and females in ten-year age categories ranging from 1-9 to 80 and over. There is no formal ceremony; winners pick up their awards at the registration table. The event partners with Pennington Adult Living Services (PALS), an organization that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Following the race, the winery offers pizza and light fare for purchase, accompanied by live music performances scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening.
