Honor Abe 5K
The Honor Abe 5K is an annual memorial 5K walk/run held in Liberty, South Carolina, at Liberty High School on June 20. The event supports the Abraham Balawi Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides annual scholarships to at least two Pickens County seniors selected by an Awards Committee.
First held in 2018, the race raises funds for the scholarship program and for awards, medals, and event shirts for local runners. Proceeds also support Pickens County cross country and track and field activities, including the Abraham Balawi Mile Run at the Pickens County Track & Field Meet, which was renamed in his honor.
This event is open to the public and is presented as a community memorial to honor the legacy of Abraham Balawi, a former student-athlete. Registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes June 19, 2026.
