Home Run for Recovery
The Home Run for Recovery is an annual athletic event held in La Crosse, Wisconsin, entering its 12th year. The event takes place at Copeland Park, specifically within the Logger's Baseball Stadium. All runs begin at home plate, with the course leading participants back to the stadium to cross the finish line on the field. The event serves as a platform to raise awareness about addiction and recovery while supporting local relapse prevention programs and recovery services.
The following race distances are available:
- 10K Road Race
- 5K Run/Walk
- Little Leaguer's Race
The event includes specific activities for children, such as a race around the baseball bases or the warning track. While the longer races are in progress, volunteers provide whiffle ball equipment in the outfield for kids to use. The 10K and 5K participants receive a T-shirt with their registration, though specific sizes are only guaranteed for those who register before mid-August. Youth participants in the Little Leaguer's Race receive a prize upon finishing.
Races are timed, and awards are presented to the top three men and women in four age categories: 19 and under, 20-39, 40-59, and 60 and above. Registration is available online during the summer months, and same day registration is offered at the stadium for an additional fee. Participants have the option to pick up their race bibs at the Coulee Recovery Center on the Friday before the event or at the stadium on the morning of the races.
