Hitchin Triathlon
The Hitchin Triathlon takes place in the market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The event offers two adult distances and dedicated children's races, with the swim held in an outdoor Olympic sized pool, a bike course through local countryside, and a run around the local park and town centre.
Distances:
- Sprint: 400 m outdoor pool, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Nitro: 200 m outdoor pool, 12 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Kids Atom: ages 7 to 14, 0.2 km swim, 2 km bike, 1 km run
- Kids Nano: ages 7 to 10, 0.1 km swim, 2 km bike, 1.5 km run
The event is timed and participants receive an entry number, timing chip and a medal. Race numbers can be collected the day before or on the day of the event. Parking is available at Hitchin Swimming Pool; it is a paid and display car park and is typically free on Sunday.
Safety and rules note that the course is not traffic free; marshals control road crossings and participants must follow marshals' instructions. No music players are permitted. Entries are non-transferable and non-refundable. In wet or extreme weather the race may be adjusted or postponed. Prizes are awarded to first, second and third place in male and female categories, and all finishers receive a medal and a free t shirt.
