Event overview
The Hitchin Triathlon takes place in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The event on 6 July 2026 offers two adult distances and two childrens races. It is a timed event; participants receive an entry number, a timing chip and a finisher medal.
Distances
- Sprint: 400 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Nitro: 200 m swim, 12 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Kids Atom (ages 7-14): 0.2 km swim, 2 km bike, 1 km run
- Kids Nano (ages 7-10): 0.1 km swim, 2 km bike, 1.5 km run
Course and logistics
The swim takes place in an Olympic-sized outdoor pool. The bike route goes into the local countryside. The run is around the local park and town centre. Parking is available at Hitchin Swimming Pool; it is a pay-and-display car park and Sunday is typically free. Race numbers can be collected the day before or on race day. Body marking is required for adults and transition areas are closed to the public.
Rules, safety and prizes
Minimum entry age is 11 years on race day. The race is not traffic free; marshals cover road crossings and competitors must follow their instructions. Music players are not permitted. Entries are non-transferable and non-refundable. Results are issued on the day. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers; all participants receive a medal and a free t-shirt.
