Hitchin Triathlon
The Hitchin Triathlon takes place in the market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The event features multiple distances for adults and children, utilizing local facilities and the surrounding landscape. Participants swim in an Olympic-sized outdoor pool before transitioning to a cycle leg through the countryside. The final run segment consists of two laps around the local park and the town centre.
Available distances include:
- Sprint: 400m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run.
- Nitro: 200m swim, 12km bike, and 2.5km run.
- Kids Atom (Ages 7-14): 0.2km swim, 2km bike, and 1km run.
- Kids Nano (Ages 7-10): 0.1km swim, 2km bike, and 1.5km run.
The cycle course is held on public highways and is not traffic-free. Marshals are positioned at road crossings to assist with safety, and the use of music players is prohibited during the race.
This is a timed event where participants receive an entry number and a timing chip. Results are provided shortly after completion. All participants receive a medal and a t-shirt at the end of the race. Prizes are awarded to the first, second, and third-place finishers in both male and female categories.
