Hitchin Triathlon 2027
The Hitchin Triathlon takes place at Hitchin Outdoor Pool with start and finish at Butts Close in Hitchin, Hertfordshire on 4 July 2027. The event offers five race distances with defined age categories, from children's races to adult distances.
- The Olympic - 800m swim, 40km bike, 10km run - Ages 16+
- The Sprint - 400m swim, 20km bike, 5km run - Ages 16+
- The Nitro - 200m swim, 12km bike, 2.5km run - Ages 13+
- The Atom - 200m swim, 2km bike, 1.5km run - Ages 11 to 14
- The Nano - 100m swim, 2km bike, 1.5km run - Ages 7 to 10
The course begins with an open-water-style pool swim at Hitchin Outdoor Pool, continues on a closed-road bike loop toward surrounding villages, and finishes with a flat run back into Butts Close. The course is fully marshalled and the run has mile markers. The Olympic distance uses two laps of the cycle and four laps of the run.
Entry fees range from £39 to £89 and online entries close one week before the event. Entry includes a timing chip, event t-shirt and a finisher's medal. Overnight secure bike racking is available the night before. Body marking is required for all adult entrants.
British Triathlon race rules apply to the Sprint and Nitro distances. Helmets must be worn and fastened while on the bike including in transition. No drafting is permitted on the Sprint bike course. Children's races require a parent or guardian to accompany registration. Headphones are not permitted and the public are not allowed inside transition.
Parking is available at Hitchin Swimming Pool (paid and display, usually free on Sundays). There are other nearby parking options and the venue is a short walk from Hitchin station. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
