Hitchin Triathlon : overview
The Hitchin Triathlon takes place in the market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The event uses an Olympic sized outdoor pool for the swim, a cycle route through the local countryside, and a run route around the local park and town centre. The event is timed and competitors receive an entry number, timing chip and a medal at the finish.
Distances
- Sprint: 400 m outdoor pool swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Nitro: 200 m outdoor pool swim, 12 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Kids Atom (ages 7-14): 0.2 km swim, 2 km bike, 1 km run
- Kids Nano (ages 7-10): 0.1 km swim, 2 km bike, 1.5 km run
Registration, rules and logistics
Race numbers can be collected the day before or on the day; on-race registration is poolside on race morning and a race briefing is held before the starts. Entry fees are listed as Sprint £65, Nitro £65, Atom £35 and Nano £35. The minimum age for entry is 11 years on race day. Transition is closed to the public and adults must have body marking. The course is not traffic free; marshals are posted at road crossings and competitors must follow their instructions. Music players are not permitted. Entries are non-transferable and non-refundable. Parking is available at Hitchin Swimming Pool (paid and display; Sunday is typically free). Results are posted on the day. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers; all participants receive a medal and a free t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
