Hitchin 5k 2026
Hitchin 5k 2026 is a town centre road race in Market Pl, Hitchin SG5, UK, scheduled for Sunday 27 September 2026. The event distance is 5 km and the course runs over two equal laps through the town centre, beginning on the High Street and passing the market square, the River Hiz, Windmill Hill, Payne's Park and Cooper's Yard.
The route is on roads with little elevation and will be fully marked and marshalled. Results are chip timed. All finishers receive a finisher's medal and event day photography is provided. Trophies are awarded to top finishers in male, female and age group categories.
Entrants must be at least 11 years old on race day. Headphones are not permitted because runners need to be aware of traffic and road crossings. Public toilets are available a short walk from Market Square via the Arcade Walkway. Hitchin Station is roughly a 20 minute walk from the start. There are several nearby car parks including Queen Street, Portmill Lane, the Queen Mother Theatre and Hollow Lane, though parking can be limited and participants are asked to avoid leaving vehicles along the race route.
