Hitchin Town Centre 5km
The Hitchin Town Centre 5km is a road race in Hitchin town centre, Hertfordshire, now in its 11th year. The event is organised as a single distance: 5 km, run as two 2.5 km laps on a fully marked and marshalled course.
The route starts on Hitchin High Street and passes the historic market square, a riverside path, Windmill Hill, Payne's Park and the steel statues by Cooper's Yard. The course is run on closed-road sections where UK Athletics rules apply; headphones are not permitted for safety on those sections. Dogs, buggies and cycles are not allowed on the course.
Entries use chip timing. Entry fees vary and an event t-shirt is available for an additional cost. Every finisher receives a medal and a downloadable finisher certificate. Trophies are awarded to the first three overall male and female finishers.
Location details note the start on Hitchin High Street, SG5 1AY. Town centre car parks (Queen Street, Portmill Lane, Hollow Lane) are a short walk from the race area; parking along the race route is not allowed and parking is usually limited.
