Hitchin 5
Hitchin 5 is a timed 5 km road and path race held on 27 September 2026. The course comprises two laps of 2.5 km each and is mostly on paths, with some road crossings required; no major roads are used. The event provides an entry number, timing chip and a finishers medal.
Organisers list route hazards including concrete posts, other types of posts, bins, bus shelters, cobbled sections, tight turns, pedestrians and road vehicles. Marshals will be positioned at road crossings and runners must obey marshal instructions. No music players are permitted and scorers will record each runner on both laps with a video in operation for any discrepancies.
Race registration to collect numbers takes place in the Market Square from 7:45am to 8:30am. There are multiple nearby car parks on Queen Street, Portmill Lane, by the Queen Mother Theatre and Hollow Lane; all car parks on Sundays are free. Market toilets and a nearby coffee shop are available for toilet use.
The minimum age for entry is 11 years old on race day. Entries are non transferable and non refundable. Prize categories include cash for first, second and third places in both male and female fields with prize amounts to be confirmed. All finishers receive a medal and light post race refreshments.
