Hitchin 10
The Hitchin 10km takes place on 2 May 2027 and incorporates the Herts County Senior Championships. It is a timed event; entrants receive an entry number, a timing chip and a finish medal.
The course starts and finishes in the town centre market square. The first kilometre is a north loop on closed roads run anti-clockwise, followed by a clockwise south loop that passes towards the Gosmore and Charlton villages. Runners return to Hitchin to repeat the initial 1 km loop before the town centre finish. Town centre roads and the roads to Charlton are closed, while the countryside sections are not closed but are reported to be quiet. The course is classified as flat with one small climb.
Race packs can typically be collected the day before or on race day; on race day collection is from the town square. There is no on-site parking; a paid car park (St. Mary’s) is nearby and other local parking options exist. Race packs may be collected for others only with prior permission and written consent.
Minimum age for the 10 km is 15 years on race day. A junior Golden Mile is held for 5-14 year olds. Music players are not permitted. Marshals must be obeyed because the route is not traffic-free. Entries are non-transferable and non-refundable. Prizes are awarded for first to third male and female finishers, with additional age-group prizes.
