Event
The Hitchin 10 takes place on 3 May 2026 and incorporates the Herts County Senior Championships. The event includes:
- 10 km race (incorporates Herts Senior Championships)
- Children's Golden Mile for 5-14 year olds
The race is a timed event with an allocated race bib and integrated timing chip. Participants receive a medal, and there is an event village with food and drink stalls, an awards ceremony, downloadable finisher certificates, and online live results. Entry fees listed are £25 for the 10 km and £4 for the Golden Mile, with a discount available for affiliated England Athletics members on production of a URN.
Course, rules and services
The course starts and finishes in Hitchin town centre market square. The route begins with a 1 km north loop on closed roads going anti-clockwise, then goes out towards Gosmore and Charlton for a clockwise south loop, returns to Hitchin to repeat the 1 km loop, and finishes in the town centre. The course is described as flat with one small climb. Town centre roads and roads to Charlton are closed; country roads are not closed but are described as not busy.
Services and rules noted include baggage drop, drink stations on course and at the finish, medical provision on course and at start and finish, and toilets at Race HQ. Minimum age for the 10 km is 15 on race day. No music players are permitted and marshals must be followed at road crossings. Registration is online only and typically race numbers can be collected the day before or on race day. Refunds are generally not offered; transfers are permitted and there is a special deferral or refund option for pregnancy or postpartum cases.
