Event overview

The Hitchin 10 (Hitchin 10K) is a town-centre road race that incorporates the Herts Senior Championships and takes place on 3 May 2026. The event is timed and provides a race bib with an integrated timing chip, an official race medal, downloadable finisher certificate, electronic timing with online live results, an awards ceremony and an event village with food and drink stalls. There is a baggage drop, drink stations on course and at the finish, medical cover at start, finish and on course, and toilets at Race HQ. High-quality T-shirts are available to purchase while stocks last.

Course and logistics

The route starts and finishes in the market square and uses a town-centre loop plus an outward rural loop via Gosmore and Charlton villages, then returns to the town centre to complete the course. Town centre roads and roads leading out to Charlton are closed for the race; countryside roads are not closed. The course is described as flat with one small climb. Mile markers and marshals are in place; there are some road crossings and runners must follow marshal instructions. Music players are not permitted. In wet or extreme weather the organiser may alter or postpone the event.

Entry, age limits and prizes

Entry fees listed are £25 for adults and £4 for the children’s Golden Mile, with a small affiliation discount for England Athletics URN holders. The minimum age for the 10K is 15 on race day; the Golden Mile is for 5–14 year olds. Entries are non-refundable and organisers state entries cannot be transferred. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers and in age-group categories; all finishers receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
