Event Overview
The Hitchin 10km is a 10 km road race that incorporates the Herts County Senior Championships. The race is distinctive for starting and finishing in Hitchin's market square, within a historic town setting. It takes place on 3rd May 2026.
Course Details
The route begins in the town centre. The first kilometer is a north loop on closed roads around the town. Runners then head towards the villages of Gosmore and Charlton to complete a south loop, before returning to Hitchin to finish with another town centre loop. Parts of the course, including the town centre and roads towards Charlton, are closed to traffic; other rural sections are open but are described as not busy. The course profile is classified as flat with one small climb.
Participant Information
Entry costs £25 for adults. There is an additional discount for runners affiliated with UK Athletics. Registration includes a race number, timing chip, and a finisher's medal. A separate Kids Golden Mile event for ages 5-14 has an entry fee of £4. The minimum age for the 10km is 15 years old on race day. Prizes are awarded for the top three male and female runners, as well as for age group categories.
