Event Overview
The Historic Drawbridge Running Festival is a road racing event scheduled for late October in Talbot County, Maryland. The festival features three distinct distance options held on USATF certified courses known for being flat with minimal elevation changes. The event center is located at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St Michaels.
Course Details
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Marathon (26.2 Miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
- 5k (3.1 Miles)
The Half Marathon begins on Tilghman Island and follows a straight route along Route 33. The course includes crossing two drawbridges and concludes at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. This route is designed with very few turns.
The Marathon shares the first 10.5 miles of the half marathon course before turning onto Bozman-Neavitt Road (MD Route 579). Runners travel through Bozman toward Neavitt before turning around to rejoin the main course near mile 24 to finish in St Michaels.
The 5k is an out and back route that starts and finishes at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, utilizing a portion of the same course used by the longer distances.
Logistics and Support
For the full and half marathon distances, bus transportation is available from the Maritime Museum to the start line on Tilghman Island. This allows participants to have their vehicles waiting at the finish line. Aid stations providing hydration and nutrition are positioned along the courses. A cutoff time of eight hours is enforced for both the marathon and half marathon distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
