Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs - Dixon, IL
Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs is a grassroots looped ultra held on Dixon Park District property. The event uses registration and formal finish times while aiming to keep a community oriented, low-key atmosphere. Runners must follow park district rules; disrespectful behavior can result in removal and disqualification.
The course is a roughly 7.85ish mile loop with the following distance options:
- 100 Miler
- 100k
- 50k
- 25k
- 8 Mile
Two loops yield the 25k distance, four loops the 50k, eight loops the 100k, and thirteen loops total about 103 miles. The surface mix is about 50% singletrack, 30% grassy meadows path, and 20% gravel path. The 100 mile total elevation is about 6,200 feet, averaging just under 60 feet per mile. Runners should expect tree roots, small stumps, rocks, and occasional unstable footing typical of singletrack.
There are two aid locations: the start/finish area with water, snacks, and hot food options, and a separate water station offering water and ice. Crew access and pacers are permitted at the start/finish area and the water station; the water station is a short walk from the start/finish. Personal canopies are allowed on a first come, first served basis. Awards include medals for 25k, 50k, and 100k finishers, a buckle for 100 mile finishers, and top three male and female awards for each distance, with eligibility tied to starting at the designated start time.
