Event Overview
The Skunk Ape 806/314 Trail Race is a timed loop event. It takes place at Lowell Park in Dixon, Illinois.
Distances and Format
The event features three timed challenges on a 2.25-mile loop course:
- 806: Complete as many 2.25-mile laps as possible within 8 hours and 6 minutes. The goal distance is 33.75 miles.
- 314: Complete as many 2.25-mile laps as possible within 3 hours and 14 minutes. The goal distance is 13.5 miles.
- 806 Relay: A team event within the 8-hour, 6-minute timeframe.
The loop direction alternates each lap. The course is single-track trail in the woods with a few paved road crossings. Each lap has approximately 166 feet of elevation gain. Lap tracking is done manually with pen and paper at the start/finish area.
Logistics and Amenities
The aid station at the start/finish line provides water, coffee, and snacks. Past events have featured a variety of hot and cold foods throughout the day. Participants may bring their own contributions.
Awards and Finisher Items
Awards are given for the top three male and female finishers in the 806 and 314 events. The top overall relay team is also awarded. Participants who finish within their event's time limit receive gift items: a hooded sweatshirt and trucker hat for the 806, a trucker cap for the 314, and a long-sleeve tee and trucker hat for relay teams.
