Skunk Ape 806/314 Trail Race, Dixon IL
The event offers timed loop trail races at Lowell Park with multiple distance options and a relay. Distances and target times listed by the organizer are:
- 33.75 miles in 8 hrs 6 mins
- 13.5 miles in 3 hrs 14 mins
- 806 Relay (team entry)
The course is a 2.25 mile loop run in alternating directions each lap (forward first lap, reverse second lap, and so on). It is primarily single track through woods with a few paved road crossings and about 166 feet of elevation gain per lap. Laps are tracked manually at the start/finish; participants must have a volunteer confirm each lap before continuing.
An aid station at the start/finish will provide water, coffee, and essential snacks. In 2025 the aid area included items such as grilled cheese, hot dogs, burgers, pancakes, and assorted sweets; similar food may be available and participants may contribute items. Awards are given for male and female 1st through 3rd place in both the 314 and 806 events, and 1st overall for relay teams.
Finisher gifts are provided only to participants who complete their event within the time limit: hooded sweatshirt and trucker hat for the 806, trucker cap for the 314, and long sleeve tee plus trucker hat for relay teams.
