Chupacabra Trail Races

Chupacabra Trail Races is a night trail event in Dixon, IL, held at 1312 Washington Avenue. The event features looped trail distances where the number of laps determines the distance entered; participants choose one, two, or three laps. The loop is described as about 5 miles and uses grass, gravel, and dirt surfaces. Approximately 30 percent of the course is single track; the remainder of the trail is at least 15 feet wide.

There is a single aid station at the start and finish area offering water and assorted snacks. Space is provided for drop bags and personal belongings, and a post‑race snack is provided. Participants are expected to bring personal items they need for the course, including a headlamp for running in the dark.

Entry fees are listed as $35 for regular registration and $40 day of, with relay team fees at $105 in advance and $120 day of. All participants receive a tee. Day of adjustments to the number of laps are allowed and are verified at check in for timing purposes.

Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers for each of the three distances, and one overall top relay team is recognized. Race registration fees are nonrefundable and not transferable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
