Chupacabra Trail Races
Chupacabra Trail Races take place in Dixon, Illinois on August 8, 2026, at 1312 Washington Avenue. The event is organized as a night trail run with wildlife commonly seen on course such as deer, turkeys, bats, skunks, coyotes and an occasional chupacabra. A headlamp is recommended.

The course is a roughly 5 mile loop. Race distances are completed by running one two or three laps depending on the chosen event. Surface types include grass gravel and dirt. About 30% of the course is single track; the remaining sections are at least 15 feet wide.
There is one aid station at the start and finish area offering water and assorted snacks. Participants may bring personal supplies; space is provided for drop bags and belongings. A post-race snack will be available. All participants receive a tee. Day of adjustments to the number of laps are permitted and are verified at check in for timing.
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each distance and to the top overall relay team. Registration fees are non refundable and non transferable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
