Highlander Assault Obstacle Race
The Highlander Assault Obstacle Race is a Scottish-themed obstacle course event held in Pingree Grove, Illinois. The event features multiple distances and formats to accommodate different types of participants, ranging from open categories to competitive heats.
Participants can choose from several primary race distances:
- 15 km Obstacle Course (Endurance and Open heats)
- 5 km Obstacle Course (Elite, Open, Hero, and Unlimited Laps heats)
- 3 km Family Frenzy Obstacle Course
The course includes a variety of obstacles, such as technical monkey bar style rigs and atlas stone carries. The event also incorporates themed challenges inspired by the old world, including archery and caber carries. All finishers in these race events receive a commemorative medal and a t-shirt.
In addition to the standard obstacle courses, the venue hosts the Dark Ages Night Obstacle Race, which involves a 5 km torch-lit course with illuminated obstacles and bonfires. There is also a 5 km Haunted Highlander Trail Run, an immersive themed run featuring live actors and animatronics, though this specific trail run does not offer a competitive heat.
