Highlander Assault Obstacle Race
Highlander Assault Obstacle Race is a Scottish Highlander themed obstacle course event in Pingree Grove, Illinois. The event offers multiple race formats on the same day, including open and competitive heats and a family friendly race.
- 5k open and competitive heats, 20 to 30 obstacles.
- 15k open and competitive heats, 20 to 30 obstacles.
- 3k family friendly course with 12 to 15 obstacles.
The event lists a variety of obstacles and old world themed challenges. Examples include technical monkey bar style rigs, atlas stone carries, archery elements, and caber carries. Some heats are described as competitive, including elite and endurance options, and there are designated hero heats for First Responders, Military, and Veterans.
Separate formats are held outside the daytime races. Dark Ages Night Obstacle Race is a torch lit 5k with illuminated obstacles and bonfires and includes a competitive heat. Haunted Highlander Trail Run is an immersive 5k with live haunted actors, animatronics, and Halloween themed scenes and does not have a competitive option.
Spectator admission on site is stated as ten dollars with children three and under free. Parking is free. Finishers of the three race events receive a courtesy race medal and a t shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
