Hibernal Hills 50 Mile

The Hibernal Hills 50 mile is a season-opening race that takes place on a single loop. The event starts and finishes at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Horndean, Hampshire. The route is 53 miles long and is described as runnable but undulating. It features approximately 6400 ft of climbing.

The first 50km follows the Staunton and Monarchs Ways before joining the South Downs Way back to the finish. The terrain is 99% trail and 1% road. The course is fully marked for navigation and has 6 aid stations.

This is a UTMB Index race that awards 3 ITRA points. It also forms part of the South Downs Triple Crown series. A qualifier is required to enter: participants must have completed a marathon (ideally a trail marathon) within the cutoff time of that race in the last four years. Experience in winter and night trail running is also considered essential.

Participants receive a finisher medal, and there are prizes for winners in veteran categories (40+, 50+, 60+, 70+). The entry fee includes a mandatory GPS tracker. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
