Event overview

The Hibernal Hills event is a single-loop trail event held at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Horndean (Gravel Hill). The event includes race distances of 50 miles, 50 km and 20 miles. The route follows sections of the Staunton and Monarchs Ways and returns along the South Downs Way. Permits are granted through the ARC; permit number is pending.

Race details

The course is mostly trail (99% trail, 1% road) with about 6400 ft of ascent and descent. There are seven aid stations along the route. The event offers live GPS tracking, chip timing, a bespoke finisher medal, downloadable race photos, and first aid and medical cover. Prize categories include male and female winners and veteran categories at 40+, 50+, 60+, and 70+.

Entrants must be aged 20 or over on race day. A qualifier is required: completion of at least a marathon within that race’s cutoff time in the previous four years; the qualifier must be from an official race with publicly available results. Experience of trail running in winter and during darkness is expected. The event is listed as a UTMB Index race worth 3 ITRA points. Entry fees vary by distance.
