Sandown & Shanklin Isle of Wight Seafront 10K
The Sandown & Shanklin Isle of Wight Seafront 10K is a UKA affiliated running event that follows an accurately measured 10 km course. The race takes place along the coastal path linking the towns of Sandown and Shanklin. The route is designed as an out-and-back course, primarily utilizing the seafront promenade.
Participants run across a variety of coastal terrain, including flat promenade stretches, firm sandy beaches, and cliff-top trails. The course offers panoramic sea views and passes through several local features such as vibrant esplanades, wooded sections, and historic landmarks. This event is open to runners aged 15 and over.
The event facilities are centered around Pluto's Café and Browns Family Golf. On-site amenities include a bag drop area, public toilets, and first aid services. Water stations are positioned at various points along the course to support participants. The event also supports the charity Sport In Mind.
Competitors have access to both free and paid parking options nearby. Free parking is available at Browns, while paid parking can be found at the Isle of Wight Zoo. The location is also accessible via public transport, with the Sandown British Rail station serving the area. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and have the opportunity to win spot prizes.
