Sandown & Shanklin I.O.W Seafront 10K
The Sandown & Shanklin I.O.W Seafront 10K is an out and back 10 km road race along the Isle of Wight coast between Sandown and Shanklin. The route combines flat promenade sections, firm sandy beach running and cliff-top trails with panoramic sea views. Runners pass esplanades, wooded sections and local historic landmarks.
The course is accurately measured and uses seafront promenade terrain for substantial sections. Water is provided at various points on the course and first aid cover is available. Public toilets are provided at Browns Pluto’s Café and a bag drop is operated at Pluto’s Café. Trophies are awarded to the first three male and female finishers and participants receive a bespoke medal; there is also a spot prize. Recorded course best times are Male 31:50 (2023) and Female 36:50 (2017). The event is affiliated with England Athletics and supports the charity Sport In Mind.
The event base is Browns Family Golf & Pluto's Café, Culver Parade, Yaverland Road, Sandown PO36 8QA. British Rail services to Sandown are indicated for rail access. Car parking is available at Browns; other local car parks may charge, for example £3.00 for three hours. On-day registration is available and results are published by the organiser.
