Event overview
The Hiawassee Half Marathon & 5K takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Hiawassee, Georgia, with the start and finish at Hiawassee Town Square (19 S. Main St). The event is presented as the inaugural edition and is organized as a 100% non-profit race; net proceeds will benefit Hikeawassee, a free Appalachian Trail hiker shuttle.

Both courses are road races that feature views of Lake Chatuge. The half marathon route makes a full 360-degree circuit around the lake shoreline. Course surfaces are described as well maintained with primarily flat terrain.

- 5K: minimum 1,930 ft, maximum 1,985 ft.
- Half marathon: minimum 1,930 ft, maximum 2,075 ft.
Logistics and amenities
Registration fees are listed as $35 for the 5K and $85 for the half marathon, with higher prices after January 31, 2026. The event policy states no refunds, no transfers, and no deferrals. Packet pickup is available at Trailful Outdoor Co. and on race morning at the start/finish area. All participants receive a t-shirt in their packet and all finishers receive a locally made finisher medal.
