Hiawassee Half Marathon & 5K
The Hiawassee Half Marathon and 5K take place in Hiawassee, Georgia, on March 13, 2027, with start and finish at Hiawassee Town Square. The event is organized as a nonprofit; net proceeds benefit Hikeawassee, a free Appalachian Trail hiker shuttle.
Both races are road courses that showcase the mountain and lake scenery of North Georgia. The half marathon circumnavigates Lake Chatuge and offers a full 360-degree tour of the shoreline. Course surfaces are described as well maintained and the terrain is moderately hilly.
Key course elevation ranges are published for each distance:
- Half Marathon: minimum elevation 1,930 ft, maximum elevation 2,075 ft
- 5K: minimum elevation 1,930 ft, maximum elevation 1,985 ft
Packet pickup is available on Friday, March 12, at Trailful Outdoor Co., and on race morning at the start/finish area. All participants receive a race t-shirt in their packet and all finishers receive a locally made finisher medal. Awards are given to the top three men and women and to top men and women in Master and Grand Master categories, with no duplication of awards.
Registration pricing is published for both distances and the event policy states no refunds, no transfers, and no deferrals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
