Hiawassee Half Marathon & 5K
The Hiawassee Half Marathon & 5K is an inaugural road race in Hiawassee, Georgia. The event starts and finishes at the Hiawassee Town Square. The courses showcase views of Lake Chatuge, with the half marathon route offering a 360-degree tour around the lake's shoreline. The terrain is described as primarily flat with well-maintained road surfaces.
There are two race distances: 5K and half marathon. The event is a 100% non-profit race. All net proceeds benefit Hikeawassee, a free Appalachian Trail hiker shuttle service.
All participants receive a t-shirt in their race packet. All finishers receive a locally made medal. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall, as well as top male and female masters and grand masters competitors, with no duplication of awards.
Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at Trailful Outdoor Co. from 2-6 PM and on race morning at the start/finish area beginning at 6:30 AM. A preferred lodging partner offers a discount for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
