Course, rules, and logistics

The course includes approximately 16,000 feet of climbing and 16,000 feet of descent. Runners must carry a 1 lb railroad spike for the duration of the race and are given an engraved spike at the finish. Total race time cutoff is 25 hours, with additional hard cutoffs at aid stations. Pacers are not allowed. The event is a Western States qualifier; finishing in under 24 hours earns one entry ticket for the 2027 Western States Endurance Run lottery.

A pre-race shuttle from Amicalola is available but is not included with registration. Organizers provide maps, aid station breakdowns, and cutoff details. Runners must submit or complete a volunteer requirement of six hours at a trail race or trail maintenance, or pay a $20 fee donated to designated trail groups; hours or fee must be submitted by race day. Course records for the current 74-mile course are listed as 13:31:29 (female) and 11:26:54 (male). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
