Run for First Responders in St. Petersburg
The Heroes Hot Oil 5K is an annual running event held in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The event starts and finishes at Colony Grill and includes two main distances:
- 5 km (timed course)
- 1 mile (fun run and walk)
The route is described as a relatively flat course that takes participants toward the waterfront and various Heroes Memorials. It is an open event that accommodates both runners and walkers.
The event is organized to support the Heroes of the St. Pete Police and Fire Rescue, an organization that provides financial assistance to first responders and their families during times of crisis or tragedy. Colony Grill, a partner in the event, is a restaurant known for its focus on pizza and its "Wall of Heroes" honoring veterans and first responders.
All registered participants receive an event t-shirt and a finisher's medal. The 5 km course is timed for accuracy. Following the run, a street party is held at Colony Grill featuring music, local beer samples, and the restaurant's signature "hot oil" bar-style pizza. Early packet pick-up is available locally in the days leading up to the race.
The event is designed to be accessible, and the organizers provide contact information for participants who require specific aids or services in accordance with disability laws. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
