About the race
Heroes Games is a triathlon style event in Norfolk, Nebraska, held on September 11, 2027, that honors military, first responders, and emergency personnel ages 14 and up. The event takes place at 101 E. Nebraska Avenue and uses the North Fork Whitewater Park for the water portion.
Participants complete three segments:
- A kayaking course through the North Fork Whitewater Park
- 5K run
- 10 1/2 mile bike ride
Entries can be individual or team based. Teams require three participants with one kayaker, one runner, and one cyclist.
Registration details differ by category. First responder and military competitors are eligible for free registration for the first 50 entries and must present valid first responder or military identification on race day for free entry. Civilian entry carries a registration fee of $40. Registration opens January 1, 2027; civilian registration closes August 1, 2027 and the hero category closes September 11, 2027.
Included with registration are a Friday evening pre race meal, overnight bike and kayak storage, an event T shirt if registered by August 27, a finisher’s medal, kids activities in Johnson Park, an awards ceremony and after party, live music downtown, and displays of Army and first responder vehicles and equipment.
