Conquer The Beast

Conquer The Beast is a Last Beast Standing timed endurance race held at Willow Creek State Recreation Area near Pierce, Nebraska. The park sits on the 700-acre Willow Creek Reservoir and is managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The site is about 4 miles southwest of Pierce and about 15 miles northwest of Norfolk.

The event uses a repeated loop format: competitors must complete the same 4.167-mile loop every hour to remain in the race. The loop is composed primarily of crushed limestone. The race continues hour after hour until only one runner completes a required lap within the one-hour limit; that final runner is declared the winner and the only official finisher, while other competitors are recorded as DNF.

Support at the venue includes food and beverages available throughout the event, with offerings such as chips, cookies, nuts, boiled potatoes, grilled cheese made to order, peanut butter and jelly options, hummus, fresh fruit and vegetables, and a primary electrolyte drink from Tailwind Nutrition. Vegan and vegetarian hot meal options will also be available. Crew support is limited to the start and finish area at Day Use Area 2; no crewing is allowed on the course.

Camping options at Willow Creek SRA include electric and basic sites, equestrian sites, and a campground with 165 electric sites. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, drinking water, restrooms, showers, and a dump and fill station located in Pierce. All participants receive a moisture-wicking race shirt, a speed cup, a head band, and a commemorative race medal; division champions receive additional awards.
