Conquer The Beast
Conquer The Beast is a Last Beast Standing running event held at Willow Creek State Recreation Area on Willow Creek Reservoir near Pierce, Nebraska. The course is a single loop of 6.706 kilometres (4.167 mi) run on crush limestone. Competitors must complete each lap in less than one hour; the event continues until only one runner remains able to complete a lap. That final runner is recorded as the winner and only finisher while other participants receive a DNF.
Support at the event includes a crew station located at the Start/Finish in Day Use Area 2; crewing is permitted only around that area and not on the course. Food is available throughout the event and includes snacks and simple hot items such as chips, cookies, boiled potatoes, fruits, vegetables, grilled cheese made to order, peanut butter and jelly, hummus, and pickles. Tailwind sports drink is provided as the electrolyte option, and water, coffee, pickle juice and ice are available. Hot meals include vegan and vegetarian options.
Willow Creek SRA offers a variety of camping types including Electric Plus, Electric and Basic sites, plus equestrian options. Some campsites accept reservations while others are first come first served using on site self registration in an iron ranger box. Discounts are offered for military, first responders and donors. Participants receive a race medallion and event swag including a race T shirt, speed cup and mini portable power pack. Male and female Last Beast Standing winners receive a custom belt buckle, custom T shirt and free entry to a BTR race of their choosing.
