Conquer The Beast is a Last Beast Standing race held at Willow Creek State Recreation Area near Pierce, Nebraska. Competitors must consecutively run a lap of 6.706 kilometres (4.167 miles) in under one hour, a pace equivalent to 100 miles per 24 hours. The race continues until only one runner remains to complete a lap; that runner is recorded as the winner and only finisher, and all other competitors receive a DNF. The course is a 4.167 mile lap on crush limestone.
Food and drink will be available throughout the event and include chips, cookies, peanuts and other nuts, boiled potatoes, candy, fruit, vegetables, grilled cheese made to order, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or wraps, hummus, and pickles. Tailwind sports drink is provided as the electrolyte option. A variety of drinks including water, coffee and pickle juice and ice will be available. All hot meals will have a vegan or vegetarian option.
Willow Creek SRA offers several camping types including Electric Plus, Electric, Basic, Equestrian Electric Plus and Equestrian Basic. Willow Way Campground includes 165 campsites with electricity plus additional Basic sites and amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings and grills, drinking water, a dump and fill station, modern restrooms, showers and laundry. Half the campsites can be reserved and the remainder are first come first served with on site self registration in an iron ranger using check or cash. Crew stations are permitted only at the Start/Finish in Day Use Area 2; no crewing is allowed on the course or at other locations. Military and first responders receive 25% off and donors 10% off with proof sent to the organizer's email within 24 hours. Swag includes a race specific T shirt, a speed cup and a mini portable power pack. Each participant receives a race medallion. Registration closes Wed, May 20.
