Conquer The Beast - May 1, 2027
Conquer The Beast is a Last Beast Standing endurance race organized by BTR at Willow Creek State Recreation Area near Pierce, Nebraska. The park surrounds the 700-acre Willow Creek Reservoir and is managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The park is about 4 miles southwest of Pierce and about 15 miles northwest of Norfolk.
The event uses the Last Beast Standing format: competitors must complete a 4.167-mile loop in less than one hour to continue. The loop repeats each hour on the same course until only one runner remains able to complete the required lap; that final runner is the sole official finisher and winner. All other competitors receive a DNF.
The course is a single loop composed primarily of crushed limestone. Food and hydration are provided throughout the event. Available items include snacks such as chips and cookies, boiled potatoes, fresh fruit and vegetables, grilled cheese made to order, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or wraps, hummus, pickles, nuts, candy, and plant-based hot meal options. Tailwind Nutrition sports drink is provided as the primary electrolyte drink; water, coffee, pickle juice, and ice are also available.
Willow Creek SRA offers multiple campsite types including electric and basic sites and equestrian options, plus amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings, drinking water, modern restrooms, showers, laundry, and a dump and fill station located in Pierce about 5 miles from the lake. Crew support is allowed only at the Start/Finish area at Day Use Area 2. Participant items include a moisture-wicking race shirt, a speed cup, and head bands; every participant receives a commemorative race medal. Male and female champions receive a custom belt buckle, a custom top plaque from Richter’s Design, and free entry to any future Beast Trail Racing event.
Registration opens September 1, 2026. Discounts are available for military (25% code MILITARY), first responders (25% code FIRST_RESPONDERS), and donors (10% code DONOR); registrants have 24 hours after registration to provide proof of eligibility.
