Event
The Cowboy 200 is a point-to-point ultrarunning event along the Cowboy Trail in Nebraska. It offers two race options:
- 200 miles: point-to-point on the Cowboy Trail from Norfolk to Valentine.
- 100 miles: single-loop/point-to-point option along parts of the same trail.
Course and support
The course follows a rails-to-trails route consisting mostly of crushed limestone that is described as non-technical, 100% runnable, and largely flat, with short paved sections through towns. The route passes many former railroad structures, including over 200 bridges; the largest is stated as 1/4 mile long and 148 feet high. Aid and support include ten manned aid stations (most with hot food), nine unmanned water-only stations, and three sleep stations. Crewing is not allowed at unmanned stations. Pacers are allowed but only from full/manned/crew-accessible aid stations; pacers must carry the same required gear and may not carry items for their runner.
Registration, limits, and policies
The event limits entries to 150 runners total, with initial caps for each distance and a waitlist process that gives priority to 200-mile entrants. Cutoffs are listed as 84 hours for the 200-mile and 32 hours for the 100-mile, with additional aid-station cutoffs in the runner’s manual. Registration closes Mon, Sep 14 at 11:59 PM CT. There are no refunds and no bib transfers; deferral credit is available on a sliding scale before specified deadlines. Shuttle tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Organizer listed as Ultraverse Supplements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
